Belen, an Eritrean American, was born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and moved to Los Angeles at 7 years old. She grew up in church and understood the importance of community and fellowship. Belen received her Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Science and is a certified lactation educator. This led her to work in spaces to normalize breastfeeding, uplift maternal health, and bring awareness and access to healthy foods to underserved communities. Belen is a photographer that believes that using social media with imagery and representation makes a difference.
Belen currently serves as a youth ministry overseer at her local church, creating a safe space for youth to discuss their struggles and use the Word to equip them in their walk. In her personal time, Belen enjoys trying new food, creating new recipes, spending time with her family, and exploring the world in her travels.
